My Joya is a stinker.
Let's just say she's going to be a tad bit different to discipline than her sister was.
Everything is fun and games until....
she gets into my plants and spreads dirt all over my carpet... and thinks it's hilarious.
Until she takes out the hallway night light and sticks her fingers in the sockets... soooo hilarious to her!
Until she plays in the toilet water... let's hope I caught her in time that the finger in her mouth wasn't stirring up toilet water prior to the shot...
We squeeze her hand, flick her palm and tell her "no-no!" loudly and she smiles at us. Latley she's been laughing with the inflicted pain.
A tad bit different than Adie was. The first time Darin squeezed her hand to discipline her, her bottom lip came out all shakey and she cried for a good 15 minutes. Totally hurt her feelings. First time Darin spanked Adie she came running to me and said, "Daddy hit me!" and again, cried for 15 minutes. Haven't had to spank her in MONTHS!
So yeah, this whole "Me getting into naughty things and thinkin it's hilarious when I'm in trouble with mommy and daddy" Joya thing is totally new to us. She's gunna bust a gut the first time we spank her!

So Darin had this brainiac idea to put up the pack-n-play in the living room and put her in baby time-out when she is naughty. We started yesterday and can you believe she didn't get into trouble even once yesterday? The girls sure had fun in it...
So let's hope that the threat of the baby time-out is keeping her in line. I hate disciplining babies when they are this young! They are too stinking cute...
cute and toothless! Our little stink-bomb is no where close to getting teeth, either! Adie was 7 months when she got one and Joya's 10 months now.. totally different kids, I tell ya!

i think brenna is like joya....we've only spanked her twice because she started laughing at us (even when we made it hurt!) ever since we've used timeouts for brenna in a playpen, now in a chair. she HATES it, and it's the most effective thing ever for her!! good luck :)
How cute...just becuz it's not happening to me! :)
Sounds like Isaac and Kahler to a T! (Toilet water and all! He gets into everything like little Miss Joya!) I can't punish Kahler either...he thinks its all funny too! What is UP with those 2nd kids??! Maybe I'll try a crib time out for him and see if that works...cuz hand slapping or spanking seems too harsh even for his age to me...we shall see!
Harper is exactly the same way and I've recently taken the crib timeout approach and he hates it. I think that's the way to go. We'll see how long it lasts though!
I really think that you should use a place for a time out that doesn't have anything to do with their sleeping. Next, they won't want to go to bed because they will think it is punishment. Just a thought from an experienced mom. By the way, I raised 3 wonderful sons and I usually used a chair or the corner. Also, Darcy, I love reading your blog. I'm a neighbor and one of my great sons is Jayme, a classmate, neighbor, and friend to your Darin.
Just my thoughts,
Susan
I can't wait til my niece is driving Meg crazy like that! :) Your little girls are gorgeous. You're so blessed.
