A Christmas Tradition ends...

Every year for the last 6 years we've cut down our tree at a Christmas Tree farm.  Found out that this is the last year to cut your own tree at Wilfong's Christmas tree farm.  =(  Which means we are artificial Christmas tree shopping this year!  We did, however, cut down our last tree with the girls.  They were less than thrilled.. it was like 30 degrees and they both wanted held and got fussy by the end. Wait, that was mommy. =/

Anyway, documented it like I've done in years past (2009) (2008) (2007) for the Christmas Tree Hunt Scrapbook we have. Not sure what I'll fill the rest of the pages with.. probably decorating the tree because that was an event this year too!

Alright.. here we go!!

Adie at the tree farm...
Joya at the tree farm...
My lovies...
Joya all bundled up...

We decorated the tree last night. Every year I get the girls an ornament so that when they leave our home they'll have ornaments for their own tree. My mom did this and I LOVED it!  And loved that I had meaningful ornaments for our first tree.  Adie gets an angel ornament every year and Joya gets an ornament that says "Joy".  (I know, clever.. HA!)

Darin and I envisioned a fun family night of family bonding with the girls and this is what happened when I took away Joya's "Joy" ornament to put it up on the tree...

And we threw in the ornament in this picture because it was dripping with irony.
She eventually got over it and posed in front of the decorated tree...
Then Adie got in on the action...

And if you notice none of my good ornaments that mom got me were put on the tree this year.
Why, you ask?
Because the girls kept dropping ornaments, whipping their blankies into the tree, touching the pretties, and took turns falling into the tree..

so we nixed putting the good ornaments on the tree this year. I'm sure mom understands.

This is so cute, and I love how Joys looks like the kid in Christmas Story who can't put his arms down :) :)

Did you know Eby Pines (on SR 120) has trees you can cut down? (Ok I will have to confirm that I know it's Eby something..let me know if you want more info on that) My brother and his wife just did that yesterday...it's not as close but might help you keep the tradition alive. =) Here in Bloomington, we go to Menards b/c a pre-cut tree at a farm is almost twice as expensive as it is up there (at the Eby place anyway).

you can cut one down in our yard next year. :) That is what we are planning to do!
I get our boys ornaments too. They have broken a good chunk already. I get so frustrated! I doubt they will love them as much when they are adults but I still try. great pics as always...
