The past few weeks I have been going through the girls' clothing to see what they need for the winter and what I have for baby Emery when she gets here this fall. My first 2 girls were in the same season so I thought I was golden with hand-me-down's.. cept that Adie always tended to wear a size bigger than her age and I just bought Joya a 6-12 month sweater for this winter.
It fits like a little big.
She'll be 2 and a half when she wears it.
So yeah, who knows what size Emery will come out as but I'm trying to revamp some of the clothing we have because quite frankly.. I'm sick of looking at some of these hand-me-downs by my 3rd girl!
So here's my first "revamp". cute little GAP cardigan that Joya graced with a spit-up stain...
After I was done with it.. it looks like this...
I'm a sucker for ruffles. And pink so yes, I am in love with it.
This is what I did to get there.. I found an old t-shirt in my closet that i wasn't wearing anymore... matched the pink just lovely. Traced large flowers and cut out about 20 flowers...
Then I folded the flower in half and then half again. Did a few stitches a the corner where the folds met to keep it secure. Did about 5 of these this way...
I folded 8 of them just in half and then stitched a few stitches in the middle.
I layered the double folded and single folded flowers and stitched them onto the chest of her new cardigan making sure I covered up the stain and here is the before and after...
Wala! A sweater I was going to trash until I revamped it and like it even more than when it was plain. =)
What did I do with those extra flowers, you ask? Well, I made matching hair attire, of course!
Wish I had more time to do stuff like this. I LOVE making something old new lookin'!

Darcy, this is awesome!!! I'm assuming you used needle and thread instead of a sewing machine? If you saw on facebook the other day... I turned one of Ayla's ruined dresses into an apron that I am trying to sell on Etsy. It is so exciting to use it for something new as opposed to throwing it away just because of a stain or tear.
Right now I am sewing waterproof fabric into a flannel bag that came with pajamas. I've had it in my sewing stock for about 5 years now... about time to make it useful as a diaper wetbag!

Wow, Darce, that is SO awesome! I am so excited for you so I can only imagine how YOU feel! ha ha. I wouldn't even know where to begin to even think about changing something old to new. You've got a talent girl & you use it well!
I love this! Totally gonna steal this idea! I've been thinking of taking some of my old shirts and making ruffles out of them to put on some of Avery's cute clothes. FUN! :)
